“I now know how it feels to have a close support and a good environment when I need it most” That is what 17 years old Lavionga Mwanga feels and thinks of Bjorn Borg’s support towards her Kayole zone.
Joined the organization Liavonga Joined MYSA barley three years, when she was 14 years old, She joined Kayole Young starlet team and participated in games, zonal clean ups and officiating under 14 girls matches. She won leadership award once which she says has helped her in paying school fees.
“What more do you need if you can participate in activities that do good to you and get paid at the end of the year with such kind of an award?” Asked Liavonga, who believes MYSA through Bjorn Borg is helping her and many other people in her community directly and indirectly. Lavionga dedicates her free time to work for herself, friends and community and that is what she calls a life time experience.
Experience “This to me is a life time experience, meeting new people, making friends and furthermore engaging myself and others in community development programmes have given me a great platform and am a practical example on how hidden talent and ability can be exposed” Said Liavonga
Being a student at Kayole South Secondary school, she is one of the privileged and happy that her zone has a library and a resource centre that is freely accessible with a lot of books and informative materials which have added a lot of value in her Education. “We live in intense poverty, surrounded by poor sanitation and small houses that cant enable us have enough space to study and learn more about our own health, but for now am happy that Bjorn Borg and MYSA have managed to identify the greatest need in our zone and gave us the opportunity of accessing what we never thought we could in life” Added Lavionga.
Wish and Hope For her, every day is a new day in her life and she hopes that this will continue not only in her Kayole zone but also in other zone that are in need of such Environment. “I hope that this won’t stop here; I will be happy to see our entire zones with such kind of facilities because I truly understand how young people like me feel when they don’t have such kind of great opportunities and decentralized programmes” Added a joyful Lavionga. .
