MYSA U16 Boys to participate in the Norway Cup 40th Anniversary

Mathare Youth Sports Association U16 boy’s team leaves the country tomorrow (Friday) morning to take part in the Norway Cup 40th Anniversary. The contingent of 20 which is headed by the elected MYSA Executive Council chairperson (Ruth Wamutua) and MYSA Executive Director (David Thiru) will leave the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport aboard a Turkish Airline flight TK608 at 0345am.


The team will spend a week with host families at Sogne in Norway, before travelling to Ekeberg fields in Oslo on the 28th of July ahead of the Norway cup which kicks off on Sunday, 28th July to the 4th of August. After the Norway Cup the team will travel to the Netherlands where they will spend a week on invitation from Union Football club in Nijmegen.


The team will arrive back home on the 14th of August at 0205 in the morning by Turkish Airlines flight 607 MYSA teams are ranked second from Pequeninos of Brazil on awards won in the history of the largest youth tournament in the World. Since 1972, Norway Cup has developed into a tournament that includes much more than just football with 30,000 participants drawn from more than 1,700 teams. The world's largest football tournament has become a societal institution.


The MYSA team will include;


Zedekiah Epwono (Kayole), Francis Oduor (Mathare North), Dominic Ngujiri (Mathare), Paul Mutisya (Kariobangi South), Vincent Ngesa (Kayole), Meshack Muyonga (Dandora), Joseph Ngithi (Mailisaba), Martin Gathungu (Mathare), Morris Maina (Dandora), Douglas Odhiambo (Huruma), Josephat Kimuyu (Mwiki), Ambrose Owino (Kayole), Samuel Njaga (Dandora), Derrick Abundo (Kariobangi South), Timothy Zakayo ( Kasarani Mwiki) and David Wathugi (Ruaraka).
