Recently launched project to conduct its first training

The recently launched Gender & Youth Rights Protection Unit which seeks to offer a safe space for all MYSA members and to advocate for children protection, rights and healthy relationships is on its mark and set to go after it was much publicised during the annual MYSA girls’ tournament.


First training

First on its calendar is a major training for Mathare United Girls Senior team which is set for this weekend Saturday the 8th and Sunday the 9th as the team is taking a break from the Football Kenya Federation girls’ premier league.


Educating the girl child
The unit which will be a platform to advocate for issues that affect the community and its surroundings will first educate the women senior team on their rights in the society before spreading them out to educate fellow youth and assist in advocacy.


The main objectives of the training are:


To educate the girls on issues like sexuality, sexual reproductive health, rights, children protection, (power) abuse and violence.
To sensitize them on healthy living and relationships
To counsel MYSA members
To enhance a good relationship with the communities e.g. teachers and local authorities
To promote a safe space for girls, through events like the girl’s tournament and MYSA girls league
To maintain a healthy relationships

Community coaches and staff to benefit

After the Mathare United Women’s team training this weekend, Community coaches will also attend the same training next week, followed by MYSA staff.
