Lots of people who live in Mathare have some form of disability, partly because of the high levels of disease in the Mathare slums.

At MYSA, we want the benefits of our sporting and non-sporting activities to be open to everyone. We run a Kids with Disabilities program which reaches out to young people in Mathare who have a disability and gives them the chance to participate in activities such as sport, music and drama, and HIV/AIDs awareness workshops. Activities take place every week in 16 of the MYSA zones.

We also promote awareness and inclusion within our communities to reduce the stigma associated with disabilities and to campaign for more support for those with a disability.

Today, there are 900 disabled young people taking part in the programme.
