MYSA Sports and Leadership Training Academy

The MYSA Sports and Leadership Training Academy (SALT) is a Kenyan based training and consulting centre that was established in 2004. The Academy’s role is to promote the use of sports for development as a tool that fosters socio-economic development using a variety of consultancy and training products and services.

Role and Mandate For the Academy

The MYSA Academy’s role is to promote the use of sports for development as a tool that fosters socio-economic development. Using a variety of consultancy and training products and services, the Academy is mandated to train various organisations, institutions and communities, both regionally and internationally to adopt sports as a development tool for a fee.

 

SALT aims to deliver quality training and capacity building activities to Sports for Development Organisations to impact positively on their work in the communities they serve.

About The Academy

Our Story

The vision for a MYSA Sports and Community Leadership Academy was first mooted in 2004. It was however not until 2008 that the initial activities began. Key to the establishment was financial support from Laureus Sport for Good Foundation Network that enabled the Academy to move from a dream to a reality.

We want to thank all our partners who have walked with us this far. To them we say the best is yet to come. You are welcome to be part and parcel of this journey that will help harness the youth – one of the world’s greatest resources – towards development.

Meet Our Management Team

HENRY MAJALE

DIRECTOR, MYSA SPORTS AND LEADERSHIP TRAINING ACADEMY

I joined MYSA as a young player in Dandora Zone in 1990 and soon progressed to the position of team captain, zone secretary and then zone chairman. I later served on the MYSA Sports and Executive Council respectively between 1997 and 1999. In 2000, I was recruited as a sports project officer; then Senior Project Officer and Project Manager Sports. Since 2008, I was promoted to the position of Deputy Executive Director and now the Executive Director.

I have gained experience outside MYSA; working on Sport for Development projects as the National Sports Officer for CHRISC in Uganda and the chairman Executive Committee of the East Africa Cup, Moshi, Tanzania.

I have represented the organization in different workshops and conferences as a speaker. I am a Certified Public Accountant, I hold a Bachelors of Business Management (Accounting Option), Diploma in International Relations and Culture. Currently I am pursuing a Football Business Masters.
