We are committed to improving the quality of life for people who live in the Mathare slums. By using sport to raise the aspirations of the next generation, we hope to see more young people go on to achieve their potential and lift themselves out of poverty. This could transform the development of the entire region. We cannot do this without your help. It’s estimated that there are 45,000 children living in the slums and we want to help all of them. Just think what a difference that could make to their lives.

There are a number of ways that you could choose to support us:

A small donation could make a big difference to the life of a child in Mathare as well as their families and communities. Just £150 a month is enough to pay a child’s school fees for one year.
An email once a month to a MYSA member would broaden their horizons and help to learn about other cultures around the world.
We love to welcome visitors to the area so come and see what we do for yourself.

Fundraising for MYSA

If you feel inspired by MYSA’s story then why not share this with your friends, family and community by fundraising for our project.

Here are some fundraising ideas to get you started:

  • Challenge yourself to run a 10km run, climb a mountain or do a bunjee jump and raise money for MYSA.
  • Coffee morning – invite friends and family round for coffee and cake and ask them to make a small donation.
  • Football Tournament – organise a match and ask players and supporters for a small donation.
  • Quiz – for those of you who like a mental challenge then why not organise a quiz? Charge teams a small fee for taking part.

Write to us

Only a few of us are lucky enough to be able to travel abroad. Our world is Mathare. We would love to hear about your way of life where you live. It is exciting to receive emails and we all compete to be allowed to reply.

By sparing just a few minutes to write us an email, sent to talktomysa@mysakenya.org, you will be opening up our world and helping us learn about new countries, cultures, traditions.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Pay us a visit

Are you planning a holiday or business trip to Kenya – why not stop by and visit us in Mathare? We love to welcome guests!

You might catch a football match, a community drama performance or even a community clean-up in full swing – there is always something going on.

Let us know when you are stopping by – we look forward to meeting you.

Corporate Support

Thank you to the companies that have supported us over the years. We are very grateful.

We are always keen to create new partnerships with companies and their staff who would like to support MYSA. Companies partner with us for different reasons – some want to support a development initiative in Kenya, some want to support an organisation tackling child poverty, and others have staff that are sports enthusiasts and want to support a youth sports organisation.

Whatever the reason, we would love to hear from you.

There are a number of ways that we can work together:

  • We can help you inspire your staff to fundraise for our young people. This can be fun and helps to build morale.
  • We can provide employee volunteering opportunities – whether this is remotely from their desk in the office or in person in the Mathare slums. Employees often relish the chance to support a non-profit organisation through the donation of their time and skills.
  • If you are an organisation based nearby in Nairobi, we can organise football matches or music and drama performances for employee outings or parties.

We have a large collection of photos and footage that we would be happy to let you use in your company publications. Our members would also write regularly to companies or even individual employees to say thank you.
